Dr Adrian Mantu is the cellist/founder of the ConTempo Quartet (1995), Galway Ensemble in Residence since 2003 and RTE’s National Quartet since 2013, principal cellist of Wexford Opera Orchestra and Luminosa and producer of CelloVision Project.

He is the winner of 16 International Prizes (London, Munich, Berlin, Prague, Bucharest, Hamburg, Rome), performing over 3000 concerts in 46 countries (in venues such as Wigmore Hall, Berlin Philharmonic, Tel-Aviv Opera, Carnegie Hall New York, Theatre du Chatelet Paris, Gedai Tokyo, NCH Dublin) in front of great personalities (Michael D Higgins, Prince Charles, Nelson Mandela, Pope John Paul II, Nobel Prize Winners & Hollywood Stars).

In 2022 he was conferred with the Order of 'Cultural Merit' in the rank of Knight for his talent, enrichment of universal culture and promoting the image of Romania by the President of Romania Klaus Iohannis.

Adrian had the privilege to hold the Artistic Director positions of prestigious Festivals and Art Organizations. He arranged/recorded the music for “Trop Tard” film (Cannes Fest) and Steven Spielberg /Tom Hank’s “Band of Brothers” and recorded for Universal, Sony, Quartz, Deutsche Schallplatten & NMC labels.
In 2023 Adrian was awarded a DMusPerf degree by TCD/University of Dublin and was previously the recipient of a Degree of Doctor of Music (honoris causa) by the the National University of Ireland, Galway.

He has commissioned/premiered over 300 new and neglected Irish works, representing Ireland in various EU projects both as a soloist and in cross-over ensembles.
